Diana Kilpatrick’s debut novel, “Off the Record”, introduces us to Shae Rose, a feisty and loveable court reporter who lifts the veiled curtain, offering a unique and entertaining peek into the secretive world of deposition court reporting.
– – –
As a busy court reporter in a small Idaho town, Shae Rose ordinarily minds her own business: sharing a duplex with two elderly sisters, Bernice and Clarabelle Darling, riding a Harley on fine sunny summer weekends, and devoting time to her Chihuahua, Hercules. And though she is privy to people’s legal troubles, large and small, she leaves her work at the deposition room door. She wouldn’t dream of meddling. * * *

“…a page turner!” —Judith Seidel

“I remember fondly reading The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe when I was in middle school. The Peaks at the Edge of the World has a similar mix of fantasy and adventure with a moral tale at its center. This is a book that’s appropriate for a younger audience than most sci fi/fantasy novels. Enjoy the read!” —Kathy Dunhoff, Zola Award-winning Women’s Fiction Writer

“…start with a religious/fantasy base, then adds a dollop of ‘A Wrinkle in Time’, mixed in a sprinkling of ‘Narnia’ and spice it up with a little romance.”

“M.F. Erler is an intriguing story-teller. The Peaks at the Edge of the World was hard to put down. I had many sleepless nights because I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next!”

The Luckiest Guerrilla, A Tale of Love, War and the Army

December 31, 2018 by SF Parrott Leave a Comment

The Luckiest Guerrilla by Patricia Murphy MinchThe Luckiest Guerrilla tells the remarkable, enchanting story of Philippines survivor Colonel Arthur Philip Murphy. Relying extensively on letters from Arthur and his wife Lillian, their daughter Patricia has penned an engrossing World War II narrative that is both a historical treasure chest and captivating on a personal level.

Only ten hours after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, they also bombed Luzon, Philippines. Ten days later enemy troops swarmed ashore, bent on swiftly annihilating General MacArthur’s ill-prepared defenses, commandeering the country’s natural resources, and subjugating its people.

By pure happenstance, Murphy avoided the pitiful surrender to the Japanese of 70,000-plus Fil-American troops there in April 1942, and he avoided the infamous Bataan Death March that resulted in the deaths of thousands. Instead, he opted to defy the surrender order and, with three companions, take his chances in the Igorot mountain country.

An obstinate, outspoken rebel, incurable romantic, amateur philosopher, and stoic executioner, Murphy was never captured, never wounded. He not only survived for three years behind enemy lines, he helped create a 22,000-man guerrilla army that harassed the Japanese, provided invaluable intelligence to MacArthur’s island-hopping army, and played a significant role in the battles fought during the waning months of the war, all while cultivating and maintaining, by whatever means necessary, continued support and loyalty among the Igorot headhunters of North Luzon.

Surviving ‘Uncle Hitler’ ~ Journey of a German Girl

September 23, 2017 by SF Parrott Leave a Comment

"Surviving 'Uncle Hitler' ~ Journey of a German Girl" by Dorothea Wollin Null

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

“…the author is a legend for all that she survived and held on to her faith thru it all. Remarkable and inspiring story.” — Kevin and Shana Scott

Surviving ‘Uncle Hitler’

Dorothea Wollin was just a young girl when American bombs demolished her German town. Uprooted overnight, she and her family found themselves on a journey of survival across Europe.

Like many German families, they had little understanding of the topsy-turvy world into which they had been thrown, or the atrocities which precipitated it. Looking back, Dorothea came to realize that she was not only a war survivor, but that she had survived “Uncle Hitler.”

Surviving ‘Uncle Hitler’ ~ Journey of a German Girl is a story of adventure, bravery and challenges that could have destroyed weaker souls. Dorothea’s experiences gave her a thirst for freedom, which led her to America. It is also a story of the quest for meaning in a dark world, a quest that led Dorothea to faith in Christ, and to a freedom bigger than that of country or politics.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dorothea Wollin Null, Author
Dorothea Wollin Null, Author

“What I want most for my story to convey is that the Lord led me through the trials and tribulations of my life in order that I could find meaning, joy, and peace. Because I am approaching the end of my life, I want to inspire my readers to question their own choices, priorities and values in order to find peace with the Lord and joy in their hearts.” — Dorothea Wollin Null

Today, Dorothea lives happily on the shores of a forested lake on the Oregon Coast, with her husband Larry, enjoying frequent visits from her large family.
